Teaching

As musicians, our art is built on the tradition of individual instruction and the oral sharing of ideas and techniques. I have been fortunate to study and collaborate with some of today’s finest flutists, and I view it as both a privilege and a responsibility to carry this tradition forward, passing on what I have learned while also sharing my own ideas on practicing the flute and playing music. My pedagogic approach emphasizes building strong fundamentals, cultivating phrasing and musicianship, and guiding each student to develop the tools to become their own best teacher in the practice room.

I work with students of all ages, levels, and aspirations, from young musicians preparing for college auditions, to adults discovering the flute as a new hobby, to professionals honing their skills for major auditions. My goal is to help each student realize their fullest potential, whatever their path. In addition to flute, I also offer specialized instruction on piccolo, an essential skill for professionals seeking to become versatile, well-rounded auxiliary players.
